Guo Feixion has been imprisoned twice. He was sentenced to 5 years in jail from 2006 to 2011. He has been put into jail since August 8, 2013, serving a 6 years sentence. He has stayed in 6 detention centers and prisons, been interrogated over 200 times, occasionally multiple times per day. Sometimes he had to be arraigned on a stretcher. (more…)

Zhang Qing (张青), wife of imprisoned rights activist Guo Feixiong (郭飞雄) (penname of Yang Maodong, (杨茂东)) reveals that Guo, already in failing health, is now on day 11 of a hunger strike. Guo began the hunger strike on May 9 to protest the degrading physical exam performed on him by prison authorities and their threats to post the video of that exam on the Internet. (more…)

Der chinesische Schriftsteller und Menschenrechtler Yang Maodong (bekannt unter dem Künstlernamen Guo Feixiong) befindet sich derzeit wegen seiner friedlichen Menschenrechtsarbeit im Gefängnis. Er hat stark an Gewicht verloren und kann sich nur schwer aufrecht halten. Er hat Blut im Stuhl und blutet auch aus dem Mund. Zuletzt hat er am 19. April sehr viel Blut verloren. On August 8, 2013, Guo Feixiong (郭飞雄, real name Yang Maodong [杨茂东]) was arrested and then indicted on charges of “gathering a crowd to disrupt order in a public place.” The case stems from Guo’s activism around the “Southern Weekend” incident, in which he made speeches outside the newspaper’s offices, and later that year he initiated a campaign demanding that the National People’s Congress ratify the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. On November 28 last year he and co-defendant Sun Desheng (孙德胜) were tried without a verdict. On Friday November 27, after three postponements over the course of 12 months, the Tianhe court in Guangzhou has pronounced its verdict, with Guo Feixiong sentenced to six years in prison. (more…)

On 27 November 2015, human rights defender Mr Guo Feixiong was sentenced to six years in prison by the Tianhe District People’s Court in Guangzhou.
Two other human rights defenders, Messrs Liu Yuandong and Sun Desheng, received three and two and a half year sentences respectively. (more…)
